Ripcord reimburses victim of Hurricane Harvey airport shutdown

Airports closed for days

Flood waters from Hurricane Harvey in southeastern Texas shut down several airports around Houston, cancelling thousands of scheduled flights. A Ripcord Rescue Travel Insurance client was transferring flights in Seattle, when the airline announced that his onward flight to Houston had been cancelled due to the hurricane. With both George W. Bush International Airport and William P. Hobby Airport closed for two days due to flooding, Alaska Airlines allowed him to change his destination to Austin. There he picked up a rental car at the airport and drove it to his home in the Houston area. He submitted a claim to Ripcord for $225, and as a comprehensive travel insurance client, he was reimbursed.
